Overview
This community museum features the history of Welland and the surrounding area, the building of the Welland canal and aqueduct, local industry and cultural diversity. The Just 4 Kids gallery allows younger visitors to explore history through hands-on play and discovery. Featured exhibits include "Life in the Trenches", an interactive War exhibit and "Capitol Theatre" a mini theatre within the museum. The site offers changing exhibitions, workshops, school visits and special events. A travelling exhibit "Passage to Freedom: Secrets of the Underground Railroad" is available, with an excellent school program.
