Overview

Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum is the largest community museum complex in Ontario, encompassing a museum, heritage village, hall of fame, and curatorial centre. We are open daily and feature engaging exhibits, programs, and special events. Our long-term gallery explores 12,000 years of Waterloo Region history, from pre-contact times to the present and beyond. The 5,000 sq. ft. feature gallery provides a venue for both external travelling and inhouse-produced exhibitions. The Museum also houses the Waterloo Region Hall of Fame, and serves as the entrance to Doon Heritage Village.

Current Exhibits

Giving Voice: Vocal Ensembles in Waterloo Region
On exhibit now
Inspired by the 100th anniversary of the Grand Philharmonic Choir, Giving Voice celebrates the heritage of local vocal ensembles, their diversity, the communities they inspire, and the power of music across generations.

BEES!
On exhibit now
Visit BEES! and explore the Big Idea that Bee health and diversity reflect the impact of human actions on the environment. Pollinators, including bees, are responsible for one in every three bites of food humans consume. Despite their indispensable role in the Earth's ecosystem, bee populations have been declining for decades.

Doon Heritage Village renovation will strengthen historic infrastructure for generations to come.

Water mains, electricity lines, and telephone/fibre cables will be replaced throughout Doon Heritage Village. The utility replacement project will impact operations in 2023 and 2024. During the construction project, the historic buildings will be closed to the public. The site is scheduled to reopen in 2025.

Doon Heritage Village is a picturesque, 60-acre, living history village, showing visitors what life was like in Waterloo Region around the year 1914. The Village is open seasonally, from May to December. One admission price includes entry to the museum, hall of fame, and historic village.
