Basket that held the Dionne Quintuplets

The world was forever changed on May 28th, 1934 with the birth of 5 identical girls in a small Northern Ontario community - The Dionne Quintuplets. Their story was documented worldwide as news of their birth spread. As they grew older they starred in 3 Hollywood films, scored multitudes of endorsement deals and attracted around 3 million people to the Callander/Corbeil area where they would watch the girls play 2 or 3 times a day in an outdoor observatory. They single-handedly saved Northern Ontario from ruin during the hard years of the 30s by bringing in close to $500 million to the province resulting in paved highways, hotels and businesses booming and the tourism industry reaching its peak. The story is one of amazement and tragedy, for both the history of Canada and for the girls and their family. While the Quints brought many people joy during the hard years of the Depression, it came at the expense of a normal life for them and their family.This is the original baseket that held the Quints. On the side it reads "This is the original basket of Madam Legros in which the quintuplets were placed at birth and which has been in our possession to this date 28/8/37" and it is signed Oliva Dionne (father), Elzire Dionne (mother) and Madam Legros (midwife). Beside it is the original wash basin they were washed in.
